Please be courteous and remember that these photographs must not be reproduced without permission.

Thank you for visiting this gallery. I am always pleased to hear about any British built bus, old or new, that is now in "Latin America". Newspaper articles, personal sightings and photographs are always welcome.

    British Buses Abroad Magazine
British Buses Abroad is going to expand its coverage in 2009 with the launch of the "British Buses Abroad" magazine published by Buses Worldwide.

The magazine will have a cover date of April 2009 and will be launched at the Buses Worldwide sales stand at the Cobham Bus Rally on 5th. April, 2009. A second issue will be scheduled for September 2009 and the magazine will expand to quarterly publication in 2010 (January, April, July and October).

The magazine will contain a variety of articles, photo features and bus news. It is not intended to be a number cruncher magazine as that aspect is well covered by the Overseas Journal published by The P.S.V. Circle. It will be a full colour magazine with, hopefully, a worldwide coverage!

The success and coverage of the magazine will depend on the material submitted. Contributions from readers of this fotopic gallery will be welcomed.

Please contact the BBAM Editor at 1911 - 2 Hanover Road, Brampton, Ontario L6S 4H9, Canada or send an e-mail to paul.bateson@rogers.com.

    Antigua (45 images)
Paul Bateson visited Antigua on 2nd. November 2005 and 13th. November 2006. He discovered several old British buses including a very derelict Leyland that appears to be ex-Yorkshire Traction whilst from the same fleet there is a Carlyle bodied Mercedes Benz. Other modern buses include a former Nottingham Metrorider and a former London Carlyle bodied Dart. My favourite island for buses in the Caribbean! Thank you to BBALA members for helping with the identification. Photographs (c) by Paul A. Bateson
    Argentina (63 images)
The photographs in this collection have been kindly contributed by Alejanro Scartaccini and Luis Spallarossa to whom Paul Bateson expresses his sincere thanks. Paul had the pleasure of meeting Luis in Buenos Aires on 10th. January 2008 when they went to look at RM 89 and 1070 near Canal Station. Paul also had a very warm welcome from Luis and Monica in Ushuaia and looks forward to a return visit in November 2009.
    Bermuda (1 images)
Not much news has been reported about Bermuda. This photograph from an unknown source shows a Seddon, number 168.
    Brazil (9 images)
This collection is, technically speaking, off topic for this group which is supposed to picture only British built buses. However, Paul Bateson was especially pleased to find these open top double decker buses in Salvador on 4th. January, 2008 performing city sightseeing services. The buses are Marcedes Benz with Busscar bodies.
    Cayman Islands (17 images)
RT 4118 (luc 467) was previously a derelict bus in Campbelville, Ontario, Canada as shown in the first picture by Paul Bateson. The next four pictures show the bus in use at a bistro in the Cayman Islands. Photographs courtesy of Maureen Holloway. The latest series of pictures were taken on 6th. January 2009 by Paul Bateson. It would appear that the bus has recently been repainted. Please note that this bus is not NXP 824 despite the number displayed. A replacement radiator was fitted prior to export from Canada.
    Cuba (6 images)
The pictures in this collection are courtesy of Richard Stedall showing a former Newcastle and Sheffield double deckers as well as a Scottish single decker. A Leyland Olympic is one of a bacth delivered new many years ago.
    Curacao (17 images)
The Bristol VR featured in this collection was imported for tourist service but unfortunately permission was not granted. The bus has been parked for an extensiive period out of use surrounded by the growing foliage. The bus was in a reasonable condition when photographed by Paul Bateson on 23rd. November, 2006.
    Dominica (3 images)
At the present time this is the only known British built bus on the island of Dominica. The photographs, courtesy of Philip Groocock, show a Bristol LH at the Botanical Gardens a few years ago.
    Falkland Islands (63 images)
Paul Bateson had the pleasure of visiting the Falkland Islands on the 13th. January, 2008. The capital, Stanley, is a delightful community and the surrounding countryside is unspoilt and wild. Passengers arriving from the cruise ships are greeted by a fleet of British built buses operated by Falkland Islands Tours and Travel. Their fleet includes DAF Optare Delta, Dennis Javelin/Plaxton, Ford Transit, Leyland Lynx, Leyland National and Leyland Tiger/Plaxton coaches. Paul received a warm welcome from the owner, Andy Williams. The other travel company noted was Penguin Travel who operate a fleet of Ford Transit minibuses and Routemaster RML 2593. Paul says that he plans on visiting again but staying longer!
    Jamaica (1 images)
An unidentified Bristol Lodekka discovered in Jamaica. It may be ex-Midland General judging by the destination play. Any clues? Send to BBALA Yahoo Group, please!
    Martinique (6 images)
The only British bus found in Fort de France is this new to Merthyr Tydfil double decker now used as a refreshment vehicle. Photographed by Paul Bateson on 16th. November, 2006.
    Mexico (9 images)
Several Routemaster buses have been photographed in Cancun. These pictures were taken about three or four years ago and their current status is not known.
    St. Lucia (29 images)
Paul Bateson's pictures feature in this collection. He was very pleased during his first visit to St. Lucia on 3rd. November, 2005 to find the former London Transport DM 1042. This bus is out of service with gearbox problems and appears to have been here since 1998. It was further seen on 14th. November, 2006 and 28th. December, 2008. The other notable discovery is the E.C.W. bodied Bedford TK which carries the transplanted body from London Transport BS13 (OJD 13R). This vehicle was discovered on 14th. November 2006 painted white as a Chicken Fry vehicle. It was next seen on 28th. December, 2008 parked in a central Castries location, repainted and described as a Pizza truck.
    St. Thomas (42 images)
This collection features RT 2897 (MLL 644) and RM 47 (GVS 492 previously VLT 47) owned by Percy Taylor in Charlotte Amalie. It should be noted that the RM carries body B5, numerically the oldest Routemaster production body. Anybody interested in repatriation? The buses have been here for a number of years. The first pictures date from 1st. November, 2005 and the latest photographs were taken on 1st. January, 2009. All photographs by Paul Bateson.
